Eugene S. Sansone, 87, formerly of 22 Hopson Ave., Branford, died in New Haven on Jan. 15. He was the husband of the late Eleanor Sanford Sansone. Mr. Sansone was born in Branford on Dec. 23, 1924, son of the late Louis and Margaret Bontatibus Sansone. He had served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a dairy farmer on his family’s farm in Branford for many years. He also worked as a foreman at the Atlantic Wire Company in Branford.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Mauro of Cheshire, Eleanor Plotner of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sharon Shadeck of North Branford, Eugenia Sansone of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Catherine Lane of Branford; a brother, Louis Sansone of Rhode Island; a sister, Eleanor Anastasio of Branford; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dominic, John, and Cornelius Sansone, and a sister, Viola Biondello.
Friends are invited to a mass of Christian burial on Friday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Church, Branford, followed by burial in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main St., Branford, 06405. The W.S.
