Given that my week has been rather dog-heavy in news (or would that be "news"?), I figured I'd cap it off with yet another feel-good, furry canine story.
Ralph Eno, Lyme's first selectman, has found himself a new hunting partner. This is Rosie, with the gangly legs and bushy ears. Yes, I realize the name Rosie rhymes with Lucy, Eno's beloved Springer spaniel, but this one came with that name. Or rather, she came with the exalted I've-got-papers name Summer Haze Rose, but we won't hold that against her.
Rosie's an English setter who'll turn 3 next month. She was returned to her breeder in Maine after her first owner couldn't keep her. Eno got lucky: not only is she sweet and rather happy to stick to Eno like glue, but she's also a fine hunter.
At work, she's happy to sleep under Eno's desk all day. She'll poke her head out for visitors, but unlike Lucy, she has yet to greet me at the door with a belly-up.
There's still time. We've just met.
