Playoffs Ready to Tip Off in Branford Receation Department Men's Basketball League

The regular season came to a close in the Branford Recreation Department Men's Basketball League and now it's playoff time with V.F. McNeil, WS Clancy, Trap Runner, and Branford Book & Card earning qualification.

In last week's action, WS Clancy defeated regular-season champion V.F. McNeil to finish in second place at 9-6. WS Clancy was led by 28 points from Tom Nolan, 21 by Joel Daniels, and 12 from both Chris Trotta and Damien Speranza. For V.F. McNeil (12-3), Craig Kenney scored 14 points and Ryan Adinolfi netted 11.

In another duel between playoff-bound squads, Trap Runner downed Branford Book & Card to put both teams at 8-7, although Trap Runner clinched third place by virtue of sweeping the season series. Trap Runner was led by DJ King (23), Eric Pepe (22), Mike Nicoletti (18), Carlton Sutherland (14), Jerry Solis (12), and Brian Cardozo (10). For Book & Card, Ed Preiss scored 24 points and Rusty Gordon had 15 on five three-pointers.

Additionally, G & G Earth Materials defeated Evans Mobil 70-56 to finish at 5-10 with Rob Howard scoring 21, Jeff Allen 18, Colby Morawski 16, and Rich Cordeiro 13. For Evans Mobil (3-12), Paul Votto scored 22 and Dan McGowan had 13.
