The Town of Madison will be conducting a telephone survey to obtain input from Madison residents as part of preparation of the Plan of Conservation and Development. The Plan, which is being prepared by a Steering Committee made up of Madison residents, will help identify strategies to protect important resources, strengthen the Town Center, guide and manage growth, and meet community needs.
A professional polling firm, The Center for Research, will conduct the poll beginning the week of February 6. A random sample of 300 households will be surveyed. Selected households will see “Center for Research” on their telephone’s caller ID. The survey will include roughly 40 questions. Residents will not need prior knowledge about these issues to participate in the survey. Residents wanting more information about The Center for Research can visit their website at www.cfrgloabl.com.
Responses, which will be confidential, will help the Town develop strategies for the future. A survey done as part of preparing the current Plan was very helpful and the Steering Committee is hoping that this survey will have similar results. Additional opportunities for public input will be provided in the future as the Plan is being assembled.
“We want to reach out to all residents –even those who do not come to community meetings – to understand what Madison residents feel is important to the future of their community. The survey gives us a chance to learn more about what residents are thinking,” stated Christine Poutot, Chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The 2000 Plan can be found on the Town web site at www.madisonct.org, by using the
dropdown menu for Department Links to go to “Planning and Zoning.”
The Plan is being prepared with the assistance of Planimetrics, a Connecticut‐based land use planning and consulting firm which assists communities with preparation of strategic plans and land use regulations.
