Griswold - Dozens of firefighters from about 10 departments remained on scene late Friday night at a blaze that engulfed a two-story home at 19 George Palmer Road.
No injuries were reported. A firefighter on scene said at least one of the home's occupants was rescued from the second floor.
Called in around 9:30 Friday night, the fire appeared knocked down by 10:45 p.m. The home was gutted and charred and firefighters continued to mop up and put out flare ups.
Griswold, Lisbon, Preston City, Poquetanuck, Taftville, Voluntown and Plainfield fire departments were among those that responded to the large blaze. Fire trucks lined the narrow, two lane George Palmer Road.
The home, up a long driveway, is bordered by a golf course, woods and one other house, but not much else.
Ledyard and state police and Griswold ambulance responded as well.
A Connecticut Light & Power representative was on scene to turn off the power to the home.
