The Shoreline Greenway Trail and the Branford Department of Public Works are in the process of building a trail through the Tabor property in Branford. They would like the public to believe that by building this trail they will be creating a healthy wildlife environment for all to enjoy.
One of the steps in the building of the Shoreline Greenway Trail through Tabor involves taking a backhoe into a wooded area and tearing up everything in the way. How can anybody believe taking a backhoe into a wooded area and tearing up everything in your way helps create a healthy wildlife environment?
The wildlife on the Tabor property depends on these wooded areas to survive. I have hiked many trails throughout the town of Branford and I believe the Tabor property has the largest and most diversified population of wildlife to be found in this town. To continue to clear this area of trees and brush will be the end of the best wildlife habitat in Branford.
The Shoreline Greenway Trail has created some fantastic trails, but it seems the main goal of the trail makers is to take a wildlife habitat and change it into a habitat that is more suitable for humans to enjoy. Unfortunately many of the woodlands in Branford that have been altered to be more comfortable habitats for the public to go hiking in have little or no wildlife left in them.
