So in continuing to take advantage of the warm winter weather we’ve had, I completed two runs last week. The first one, I integrated some interval training and felt better this time around than the previous time I had done it (no cramps this time!) so I will definitely take that as a win. The second run over the weekend I ran with a friend through the Trolley Trail and Pine Orchard area of Branford totaling up to 4.5 miles. This run really gave me the realization of how far I’ve come. Not only was I able to make that distance fairly easily, but I was able to hold a conversation throughout the run. When I first started out 10 months ago (or anytime I had run in the past) I swore I didn’t want to run with anyone because people, when they’re running, always like to chit-chat and I’m someone who likes to put the music on and just go—plus I’ve never once been able to run and carry on a conversation without being completely out of breath. Well, I held a fairly good conversation throughout the run and caught up with this friend and it felt great to be able to multi-task! So I may have changed my mind about running partners…
Running this week has been put on hold as I’ve been battling the stomach bug. I know that I’m a true runner because as I woke up feeling lousy the other day, one of the first thoughts that popped into my head was “how much will I miss running?” I’ve dealt with the fever, aches, chills, and stomach issues and am just now starting to feel myself, but I know that until I’m able to eat regularly again and get my strength back, running will be put on hold. Hopefully by next week’s blog I’ll have at least put in a couple of runs!
