Here's a weird one for you.

One of my favorite albums of recent years is We're Here Because We're Here by the British band Anathema. The record came to my attention in early fall, 2010. It's a shimmering, haunting record that's builds and gloriously suffocates in its cumulative creativity and sound — and I could not have imagined a more perfect soundtrack for autumn.

The thing is, We're Here Because We're Here was actually released in May of 2010 — it's just that Moron Boy, here, didn't discover it until that September.

But it worked out perfectly. Forever forward, I can't imagine experiencing fall without repeated listens to that record or songs such as, just for example, "Dreaming Light" or "Everything."

Unfortunately — or fortunately — the new Anathema CD is about to be released. Called Weather Systems, advance clips and tunes seem similarly inspired and a logical follow-up. That's the fortunate part.

The unfortunate part is … (he typed petulantly) I don't want Weather Systems to remind me of spring or summer. Nothing wrong with spring and summer -- I love them -- but ... I'm going to want Weather Systems to remind me of autumn. Anathema has become an October-y band for me — and that's probably as unfair to them as it is ludicrous on my part.

What to do, then? I think Anathema is one of the best bands in the world, making sensationally creative, melodic and fresh music. Do I deprive myself of this long-anticipated record simply because I wish to engineer my imprinting experience so that the work will remind me of fall?

Or do I just buy the damned thing on the day it's released?
