If "Once" had been about early 20-somethings who weren't musicians, it would be "Like Crazy." This indie drama has all the weighted silences and romantic longing of "Once" as it follows a college-aged couple - he American, she British - as they are separated by visa issues. Felicity Jones holds the screen with great charisma as the Brit, who becomes a writer, and Anton Yelchin is a solid, if not particularly exciting, presence as the American, a furniture designer. Things become more complicated as they each find other partners (his is current It Girl Actress Jennifer Lawrence) but can't shake the memory of their relationship - or at least their idealized memory of their relationship. "Like Crazy," directed by Drake Doremus, is largely improvised, which has its down side - you never get a really well-constructed, rapturous scene or conversation that gives you a sense of why these two are so connected. The film won the 2011 Sundance Film Festival's Grandy Jury Prize for best film, and Jones won the special jury prize for best actress.
