Adam Lambert
RCA/19
Should we call him Lord Gaga? Glambert goes full-out with the dance-music vibe on his sophomore release. If the hypnotic "Kickin' In" isn't already being played in every club, well, it's just a matter of time. Same goes for the fun and funky "Trespassing," which is propelled by hand claps and a bass line that recalls "Another One Bites The Dust." Here's my kvetch: Lambert's voice is so supernaturally amazing that I wish the people behind the scenes felt less compelled to mess with it. No need to overproduce his voice. He's not Britney, for heaven's sake. Just let him wail and record it. Thank goodness he does get a chance to go stratospheric on dramatic ballads like "Underneath." A note to fans: Spring for the deluxe edition; the additional songs are worth it.
