Montville Democrats running up the bills

The Montville town attorney has ruled that the mill rate cannot be petitioned, even though it has been petitioned in the past. The petition for the budget however is being circulated. The council has taken away our right to petition the mill rate, but we will still be asking for cuts that will be presented to the council after the budget is overturned.

The Democratic controlled council in my opinion is taking the rights away from the people of Montville through the use of the town attorney. The mayor, through the town attorney, has cost this town thousands of dollars in legal fees and probably a million or more in lawsuits.

The mayor, council and WPCA want to give $5 million to Rand Whitney to build a Batch Digester on Rand Whitney property. Rand Whitney will operate the digester at a cost of $370,000 a year; in return the WPCA will eliminate $1.19 million in user fees to the WPCA.

What a deal for Rand Whitney. Who's going to make up the $1.19 million loss in user fees? I hope the taxpayers will start paying attention to what is happening in Montville. If they don't, it could cost them dearly.
