Montville — The Thames River Detachment of the Marine Corps League chose David J. Kargul as its Marine of the Year.
Kargul was a charter member of the detachment in September 2009. He has held the office of detachment chaplain since that time and has been an active participant in all detachment activities, especially the Toys for Tots drive. Kargul, who also holds the office of New London County commandant, and his wife, Susan, live in Pawcatuck.
The detachment meets the second Tuesday of the month at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Raymond Hill Road in Uncasville. All Marines and FMF Corpsman are welcome.
