Publication: The Day
Your June 11 paper had an interesting headline combo in Letters to the Day, "President Obama deserves another four years" on top of Thomas Friedman's insightful, "The United States must be a world leader on economy" analysis. I think Friedman's "more pain" ending his second paragraph is most poignant since the solution for Presiden Obama to "reforge a 'grand bargain' with Republicans" makes me wonder what country Friedman has been living in the past three years. The Republican Party's top priority is seeing Obama fail in the worst possible way, which unfortunately means this country has to come down with him. Yes the world needs American leadership, but first America needs American leadership which we're not going to see without experiencing "more pain" first.
