New Haven (AP) — New Haven police say a man wanted for questioning in a felony investigation held five children hostage in a home before surrendering after a brief standoff. The children weren't harmed.
Police told WVIT-TV that they tried to pull over the man late Tuesday afternoon, but he fled and ran into a home on Orchard Street.
Nine-year-old Nyquasia Allen Moye told a reporter that the man carried her and a friend out of her apartment and took them upstairs to another apartment, where he held them and three other children hostage as police surrounded the home. Police say they negotiated with the man for a few minutes and he surrendered without incident.
Police arrested the man, but didn't release his name or say what the felony investigation was about.
