The Day's All-Area teams to be published starting Sunday

It is time for The Day's Spring All-Area high school teams to be published, with nine sports to be featured in our section beginning Sunday with golf.

In each sport, we will name a Player of the Year and a Coach of the Year, as well as an all-star team, all voted on The Day's sports staff.

The schedule for publication of the teams is as follows: Sunday, golf; Monday, girls' tennis; Tuesday, boys' tennis; Wednesday, girls' lacrosse; Thursday, boys' lacrosse; Friday, girls' track; Saturday, boys' track; Sunday, July 8, softball; and Monday, July 9, baseball.

Our staff would like to thank athletic director Jim Buonocore of Ledyard High School for accommodating us during our team photo sessions and photographers Tim Cook, Tim Martin and Dana Jensen for their help, as well.

Finally, thanks to the athletes and coaches for their diligence in attending our photo shoots, as well as giving us so much to write about this season. Best wishes for an enjoyable summer.
