The public is invited to explore two private gardens on July 14 in North Stonington and Stonington, which will be open to benefit the Garden Conservancy. The cost is $5 per garden and children 12 and under enter free. No reservations are required, and the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine.
Highlights of the gardens include a century-old boxwood hedge a quarter-mile long, rose arbors, a grapery and a collection of more than 600 daylily cultivars among rock outcroppings.
Visitors may begin at either location: Blue Flag Farm, 449 Pendleton Hill Road, North Stonington; or Stone Acres, estate of Mr. & Mrs. Frederic C. Paffard Jr., 385 N. Main St., Stonington.
