Court deals fatal blow to individual freedom

The recent Supreme Court ruling on ObamaCare is a fatal blow to individual liberty in America. It is not to be denied that an alternative to the profit driven health care industry is required, but is it necessary to chip away at the foundation of personal freedom that this country was built upon?
As was stated in the opening summary of the Supreme Court's ruling yesterday, Congress has neither the power to compel commerce or create precedence for pending legislative purview. Despite this admission of federal overreaching, the court elected to construe the mandate as a tax and therefore constitutional, regardless of the fact that the actual legislation refers to this "tax" as a penalty for noncompliance. If the mandate was intended a taxation, the act would have read so. As it stands now, it reads "penalty" and I for one will not be taxed for not purchasing a product I do not believe to be in my best interest.
Health care needs reform, but true health care reform begins with the individual. You cannot create a healthy society through taxation or via the office of your favorite lobbyist; it is created through leadership and education.
