Norwich — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who crashed and damaged a home at 231 Broad St.

Katie Scanlon said she and her boyfriend, Jon Day Jr. spent the holiday at Columbia Lake and arrived around 6 a.m. Thursday morning to find damage to the house.

A portion of the porch and siding to the house was smashed and dented in.

Scanlon said her roommate who was at the home at the time did not hear the crash.

Day said witnesses described the car as being a newer model, black Ford Flex with visible roof damage.

A gas line was also struck, but Norwich Public Utilities secured the line and shut off gas to the home.

A building official at the scene said the home was safe to live in.
Norwich City firefighters also responded to the scene.

Anyone with information  on the incident is asked to call police at (860) 886-5561.
