Grace Revisited: Mental health advocate takes her message to television

Published 08/17/2012 12:00 AM

Update, March 21, 2013: The "Restoring Health Holistically" series is available on DVD. Visit www.crazyrecovery.com for show description and purchase information.

It's been quite a year for our August 2011 Woman of Grace, Gracelyn Guyol. The Stonington resident had shared the story of how she was able to end the symptoms of her own biopolar disorder, after a harrowing experience with conventional drugs inspired her search for alternative, but effective therapies. Last fall, Guyol stepped down from the presidency of Clean Up Sound & Harbors (CUSH), the nonprofit environmental group she founded in 2007, to pursue her mental health advocacy work. The author of two books: "Healing Depression & Bipolar Disorder Without Drugs," and "Who's Crazy Here: Steps to Recovery Without Drugs," she has been speaking throughout the region about the symptoms and possible causes of ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism. Starting Sept. 26, Guyol will host her own 13-week community cable TV series, "Restoring Health Holistically," that will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Channel 12 via Groton Comcast Cable.

"My goal is to educate viewers about holistic health options while promoting local practitioners and raising awareness of the many inexpensive, successful, non-drug healing solutions available," Guyol said.

Topics include: End Physical Causes of Addiction, Alcoholism & Sugar Cravings; Lift Depression Forever (Even in Winter); Reduce Inflammation and Autoimmune Disease (Arthritis, Lupus, MS); Reversing "Incurables:" Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue; Banish Anxiety and Phobias; Begin Cancer Prevention Now; Harnessing Body, Mind & Spirit for Health; and Forget Cholesterol and Reduce Heart Disease.
