LVVS offers free tutor training

Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore CT, Inc. offers a seven-session workshop beginning Oct. 11 to area residents who would like to tutor adults in basic reading and/or English as a Second Language. Teaching experience is not a requirement. The sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday. Morning sessions run between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and evening sessions between 7 and 9 p.m. at the LVVS offices in the lower level of the Westbrook Public Library, 61 Goodspeed Drive. There is no charge for participation due to a grant from the Westbrook Foundation. The deadline to register is Sept. 14.
