Ledyard — The Ledyard Town Council swore in its newest member, Republican Fred Allyn III, Wednesday night.

Allyn will be taking Sean Sullivan’s recently vacated seat. Sullivan resigned in August to take a position with the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C.

A real estate agent in Norwich and the son of former Mayor Fred Allyn Jr., he is a former member of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission. The Republican Town Committee endorsed him for the seat at its meeting Monday night.

Allyn also will serve on the Land Use Committee and as the liaison to the Board of Education.
