With power now restored to most customers in southeastern Connecticut, all public schools and colleges in the region are slated to be open today. In addition, schools in Stonington, Old Lyme and Lyme, which had been slated to be closed on Tuesday are now open on Election Day.

The secretary of the state's office is expected to announce a list of polling places today. Information will be posted on www.theday.com and appear in Tuesday's edition.

Today at the Cohanzie Fire House in Waterford a "Trunk or Treat" event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. to make up for Halloween.

People can bring their cars and decorate their trunks and backseat in the parking lot and then hand out candy. Those who want to decorate a trunk should arrive at 5:30 p.m. A booth will be set up to help those affected by the hurricane and a DJ will play music. Candy donations can be dropped off at the firehouse.

Shelters in East Lyme at the Groton Senior Center are now closed.
