Voluntown woman killed in Griswold crash

Griswold — A Voluntown woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-car crash on Route 138 near Pine Road.

According to state police, Betty A. Chabotte, 57, of 83 Lillibridge Ave., was exiting the parking lot of the American Polish Citizens Club at 5:03 p.m. when her Hyundai Elantra pulled into the path of a Ford pickup driven by Kelly Choi, 40, of 101 Jerome Road, Uncasville. Her car was struck by the pickup.

Chabotte was taken by Griswold Ambulance to the William W. Backus Hospital where she died. Choi was treated and released at the hospital. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. The accident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Sirat at 860-848-6500.
