Local colleges: DiPasquale leads Conn hockey past Salve Regina

New London - Ariel DiPasquale had two goals and an assist as the Connecticut College women's hockey team beat Salve Regina Tuesday, 6-2, at Dayton Rink.

Justina Germano had two goals for the Bears (1-1-1) and Sam Shuffenecker added a goal and an assist. Also, Amy Leichliter had 27 saves.

The Seahawks are 5-4.

Men's basketball

• Malcolm Simmons and Philkwan Tate both scored 19 in a losing cause as Avery Point was beaten by the Community College of Rhode Island, 92-55. The Pointers are 2-4.

• Matt Vadas had 12 points and 10 rebounds in Connecticut College's 63-51 loss to Wentworth. The Camels (1-2) trailed 31-15 at halftime and committed 24 turnovers overall.

Women's basketball

• Tara Gabelman scored 23 points in Conn College's 66-57 loss to Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Gabelman went 10-for-16 from the field and added seven rebounds for the Camels (1-2). Jenna Lovett had seven points and five rebounds.
