New London — Police are investigating an attempted robbery in the New London Shopping Center Friday evening that left two people with minor injuries.

A man accosted two Radio Shack employees at 5:43 p.m. Friday as they walked across the shopping center parking lot toward the Bank of America, police said. After a brief struggle in the parking lot, the suspect fled the scene and was last seen running toward the Colman Street/Interstate 95 overpass, according to police.

The two employees were treated for minor injuries at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, police said.

Police described the suspect as a thin white male, about 5-foot-5-inches tall, with a beard and short blond hair. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and white sneakers, police said.

Police encourage anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Galante at (860) 447-1481. All calls will remain confidential.
