Norwich – A portion of Hickory Street in downtown was temporarily closed and several buildings were evacuated as Norwich Public Utilities crews responded to a natural gas leak.
Crews identified the source of the leak and shut off service to the house, NPU spokeswoman Jeanne Kurasz said. The Norwich Fire Department had closed down a portion of the street and evacuated several residences.
Crews had venting the home where the leak was detected.
Police said the area has since been cleared and open to traffic.
