Stergio named NEAC Player of the Week for Gallaudet

Lindsey Stergio of Montville, a senior forward for Gallaudet University, was named Northeast Athletic Conference women's basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26.

Stergio, who made her Gallaudet debut on Nov. 20 against Christendom College, posted game highs of 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes in the 69-29 victory.

She followed that performance by pacing the Bison in their first-round win in the GU Holiday Tournament against York (N.Y.) College with 10 points, five rebounds and two steals in the 57-33 victory. In the championship game against Valley Forge Christian College, a 65-47 loss, Stergio once again led the Bison with 22 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block and was named to the all-tournament team.

For the week, Stergio averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, 1.7 steals and one block in 29.7 minutes per game.

Stergio, who will compete next summer at the Deaflympics in Bulgaria, and Gallaudet have a brief break before returning to action Dec. 7 in their NEAC opener against Penn St.-Berks.
