Groton – A 19-year-old man stationed at the Naval Submarine Base remains in critical condition after a wreck Sunday in which he flipped his 1999 Jeep Wrangler over a stone wall on Route 1 near Flanders Road.
Matthew Kleeman, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken by Groton Ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital after the 6:55 p.m. crash. He was later taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment police said.
Kleeman was extricated from the Jeep, which landed in a wooded area, by members of the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department.
The wreck remains under investigation, police said.
