Norwich – The City Council received a large-screen review of the new city website Monday, including a new geographic information system map program launched Monday that includes aerial photographs of all city properties, layouts of buildings, ownership information and neighboring properties.

The new GIS system is available in the main city website – which was launched two weeks ago – under the menu listing for “residents.” The city website is at www.norwichct.org.

City Assessor Donna Ralston said information in the mapping system will be updated each night and will include that day’s ownership transactions. New aerial photographs were taken in spring and will be loaded into the system shortly, Ralston said.

Also launched Monday were the city’s new Facebook and Twitter accounts. Links to those accounts also are available at the center of the home page at the city website.
