Essex Winter Series marks 35 years

The Essex Winter Series presents its 35th anniversary season beginning on Sunday, Jan. 13. The schedule is as follows.

"Romance on the River" 35th Anniversary Concert: Sunday, Jan. 13. Features soprano Patricia Schuman, bass-baritone David Pittsinger, EWS artistic director and pianist Mihae Lee, and French horn player William Purvis. Includes Romantic works by Robert and Clara Schumann, Shubert, Copland, Verdi and others.

Orion String Quartet & Clarinetist Romie de Guise-Langlois: Sunday, Feb. 10. Features works by Shubert and Mozart.

The Northeast Traditional Jazz Ensemble: Sunday, March 30. Features a journey through jazz.

American Brass Quintet: Sunday, March 17 at John Winthrop Middle School, 1 Winthrop Road, Deep River. Music spanning centuries.

Unless otherwise noted, all concerts take place at 3 p.m. at Valley Regional High School, 256 Kelsey Hill Road, Deep River.

Season subscriptions for EWS are available for $100. Individual tickets are available for $30; discounted student tickets are $12. Student tickets are not available for the Jan. 13 concert.
