Ah! cappella: Straight No Chaser has become quite a hot a-cappella property since forming at Indiana University in 1996. Back then, they were a bunch of students harmonizing. While the group continued on at the school, some alums kept singing post-graduation. (The collegiate group eventually changed its name to Another Round.)
Let's go to the video: The career turning point for Straight No Chaser was a YouTube video. Their version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" - into which they wove such unexpected songs as Toto's "Africa" and "I Have A Little Dreidel" - was a huge hit and caught the ear of the head of Atlantic Records, Craig Kallman, who signed them.
