New London police investigate report of gunshots

New London — Police are investigating reports of gunshots in the area of Colman Street and Ashcraft Road around 2:10 p.m. today.

No injuries were reported. Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said numerous 911 calls came in to police informing them that a group of "several" males were seen running away from the area.

"Officers immediately responded to the scene and began a search for any evidence of weapons discharge or possible suspects," Reichard said.

Police are also in the process of taking statements from several witnesses to the incident, Reichard said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. No further information is available.
