Ledyard – A fallen tree knocked out power this afternoon to several hundred homes in the Gales Ferry section of town.
The tree downed power lines in the vicinity of 1058 Long Cove Road. Emergency services, along with crews from Connecticut Light & Power, were being called to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. A portion of the road is expected to be closed while work gets under way to repair the power lines.
At 2:15 p.m., Connecticut Light & Power reported 248 homes were without power in Ledyard. Tnat number had dropped to 100 by 4 p.m.
