East Lyme -- Two inmates of York Correctional Institution escaped Saturday night and have not been found, state police said this morning.
Melissa Riley, 30, of Scotland, and Jessica Rivera, 34, of Waterbury, were reported missing at 8:30 p.m. after a check of the prison, police said in a news release. State troopers, including K-9 teams, have been sent to the area.
Riley is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She is incarcerated for larceny and possession of narcotics charges.
Rivera is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 116 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She is incarcerated for robbery and burglary charges and has a previous escape, police said.
All area police departments have been notified of the escape. The case is under investigation by state police.
