I submit an idea for changing our culture. An example:
Remember how quickly the United States banned smoking in many places? It happened because many people agreed with the idea and the time had come. In only a few years things changed from a "smoking-is-OK-anywhere society" to a society where smoking is not allowed in public places.
Our language spoken and written is highly sprinkled with words connected to violence. Kill the umpire, shoot, slam, take a stab at it, kill that idea, make a killing, war on this war on that, etc.
We could reduce (eliminate) these words from our everyday conversation along with the media doing the same. Eventually we might improve our violent American culture to one of greater civilization.
Make a New Year's resolution, eliminate violent words from conversation and encourage others to do the same.
What do you think is the most important issue for the Connecticut 2013 legislative session?
