In his Jan. 16 column, "A shot of politics with the doughnut," David Collins implied intentional effort of Dunkin Donuts to force conservative political views upon patrons.
Fact: a television set can only be tuned to one channel at a time. According to "Broadcasting & Cable Magazine," Fox News has been the most-watched cable news channel for many years - more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined. Any responsible journalist would have learned this and seen no issue.
What is next? Is he going to blow the lid off of the conspiracy to force us to become Red Sox fans? Whenever I go into a bar that has one television the Red Sox game is on. Surely this cannot be because most patrons are Sox fans - there must be something sinister at work!
Mr. Collins has no interest in fairness, only in harming a local business if they dare not act in a manner that complies with his political views. He encourages people to boycott, suggesting that any other businesses who dare tune TVs to the most-watched channel face similar loss of clientele.
He alludes to the bankruptcy of a past business, suggesting parallels. For him to equate printing Bible verses on coffee cups to having a TV tuned to the most-watched news channel is beyond preposterous. His piece was nothing short of coercion, and should be denounced.
