For the first time in program history Jan. 18, the Hand boys’ swimming and diving team was able to host a home meet, using the facility at the Madison Racquet and Swim Club, the Aquadome. The Tigers made it one to remember as they defeated Shelton 90-79 and improved to 3-2 on the season on Senior Night.
Hand took first place in eight out of eleven events. First place finishes went to Ethan Crans in the 200 free, Noel Haren in the 200 intermediate, and the 500 free. Additional top finishers were Joe Nattarelli in the 50 and 100 free, and Nick LaSala in the 100 breaststroke. Hand also took first in both free relays with Haren, Nattarelli, Doug Wu, and Crans in the 200 free relay and Lynch, Wu, Haren and Nattarelli in the 400 free. Second place finishes went to Wu (50 and 100 free), and Lynch (100 back) and third place finishes went to Lynch (200 free), Davide Mendonca (500 free), and Tim Smith (100 breaststroke).
In addition to the victory, the junior swimmers went to extra effort and decorated the dome for the seniors. The juniors also made short speeches and presentations to graduating seniors, who are Schuyler Enright, Cameron Thompson, Matt Allen, and Nattarelli.
