Local roundup: Mitchell men beat Becker in OT

New London - Joshua Ford had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and Alex Del Rio scored seven of his 10 points in overtime and as Mitchell College beat Becker, 79-71, in a New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball game Tuesday night.

Anthony Epps added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Mariners (9-9, 5-5) and Devonta Mosley had 12 points. Yahmad Rountree had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Becker (10-9, 6-4).

In another game:

• Connecticut College scored a season-high for points in a 91-79 victory over Western Connecticut State University. Matt Vadas had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Bo McKinley scored 20 points while reserve Kevin Myricks had 13 points for the Camels (7-13). Ledyard graduate Mike Jensen led Western with 26 points.

H.S. swimming

• Adam Tran won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle to lead Ledyard-Stonington past Norwich Free Academy, 96-74, in the Eastern Connecticut Conference. Matt Peluso finished in the 500 freestyle and Mike Hughes won the 100 breaststroke for Ledyard (7-1, 7-1). Aidan Karam took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke while Jonathan Yuen won the 100 butterfly for the Wildcats (4-7, 2-6).
