Langston Hughes poetry reading in Mystic Sunday

Rhonda Ward will host the Mystic Arts Center's fifth annual poetry reading celebrating the legacy of African-American poet Langston Hughes from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. The afternoon will feature select readings from regional poets, educators, artists, students and members of the community.

Ward has appeared at many venues to read her work, including the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, the University of Connecticut at Avery Point, the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, and Curbstone Press Poetry in the Park series in Willimantic. In May 2007 she traveled to England to read at the Women's Arts International Festival in Kendal, Cumbria, U.K.

This event is free. Mystic Arts Center is located at 9 Water St. in downtown Mystic and may be reached at (860) 536-7601.
