Included in Governor Dannel Malloy's proposed budget is a provision to slash personal property taxes paid to town government on the value of motor vehicles residents own.

Westbrook Town Finance Director Andrew Urban estimates that if the state budget proposal were adopted, the Town of Westbrook would lose $1.1 million in tax revenue per year. Currently, the Town of Westbrook has over $52 million in motor vehicle value in its Grand List of Taxable Property.
