New London - Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio said city plows are expected to reach all city streets today but is asking residents not to shovel snow from sidewalks and driveways into the street. Public Works Director Tim Hanser said the snow is impeding plowing efforts on some streets. Tossing snow into the roadway is also a violation of city ordinances, Finizio said.

New London police are also asking residents not to drive in the city today because cars are still getting stuck and are in the way of snow removal efforts and emergency response vehicles. A parking ban remains in effect and cars will continue to be ticketed and towed.

Firefighters who are not out on emergency calls are digging out fire hydrants throughout the city, Finizio said.
