Day photographer Elliot recognized for Newtown spot news image

Chief Photographer Sean D. Elliot’s photo “Sandy Hook Shooting” earned second place in the Spot News category in the National Press Photographers Association Northern Short Course in Photojournalism contest.

The contest, open to NPPA members in the association’s three northeastern regions, from Virginia to Maine, was judged at Temple University February 8-9, 2013. Awards will be presented at the Northern Short Course Awards reception March 9, 2013, at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel in Elizabeth, NJ.
