Killingly firm fined

A Killingly cosmetics manufacturer has been cited by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration for a variety of hazards and faces fines of more than $50,000.

U.S. Cosmetics Corp., which operates a manufacuring plant in the Dayville section of Killingly on Louisa Viens Drive, was cited after safety and health inspections that started in October 2012. Twenty serious mechanical, chemical, electrical and other hazards were found, according to OSHA. Hazards included electrocution, arc blasts, lacerations, falls and being trapped in confined spaces, Warren Simpson, OSHA's area director in Hartford, said.
