Local pop-rock band Madison Red has been chosen to appear in "The Next Great Family Band," a new reality television series that will air on the NBC-owned COZI network.

The program, airing in southern Connecticut on Comcast channel 934, will feature 15 groups from across the country composed of family members and performing original material. The show kicks off at 8 p.m. Sunday and Madison Red will be introduced on the Feb. 24 second episode.

The band comprises Lyme siblings Sierra and Braiden Sunshine; brothers Ian, Duncan and Aiden Maxwell of Ledyard; and Nolan Smith of Lyme and Tom Bora of Ledyard.

Madison Red released a self-titled debut album last October and appeared on The Day's "Live Lunch Break" streaming concert series in November.
