Coast Guard Band performs concert prior to upcoming tour

New London — The Coast Guard Band presents a concert of works to be performed on its upcoming tour of the southeastern United States at 2 p.m.  March 3 in Leamy Concert Hall at the Coast Guard Academy.

The program opens with “Masque,” followed by “Concert Suite for Alto Saxophone and Band” featuring Chief Musician Joshua Thomas. Chief Musician Kelly Hurrell, a clarinetist, performs “Concert Fantasia on Motives from Verdi’s Rigoletto.” Chief Warrant Officer Richard Wyman conducts the jazzy tour de force for band, “Awayday,” and Musician First Class Megan Weikleenget sings the aria “O Mio Babbino Caro.” The concert finishes with “Suite of English Folk Dances” and “Santa Fe Saga.”

This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required
