De'Vonta Robinson's steal and driving lay-up with 14 seconds left in overtime gave third-seeded New London a wild 78-76 victory over No. 2 Woodstock Academy in the first ECC basketball tournament semifinal game at St. Bernard on Wednesday night.

The second game between top-seeded Ledyard and No. 5 Norwich Free Academy was suspended midway through the first quarter (the game was tied 2-2) due to a wet floor.

Officials at St. Bernard wet-mopped the court between games, but with a large crowd and a hot gymnasium, the court never dried and was too slick to continue. It will be resumed at 5 p.m. Thursday and theday.com will stream it live.

The Whalers, who lost twice to Woodstock during the regular season, overcame a 10-point halftime deficit and forced overtime on a basket by Keith Porter with four seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 69-69. Porter finished with 30 points to lead New London, which will be making its 10th straight trip to the title game, while DeAnte Bruton added 27, including 14 in the third quarter when the Whalers mounted their comeback.
