Local Roundup: Logan lifts Wildcats into Shoreline final

Old Lyme — George Logan had a game-high 26 points, including his 1,000th, to lead second seeded Old Lyme High School past No. 3 Cromwell Tuesday, 56-46, in the Shoreline Conference boys' basketball semifinals

Andrew Tyrol scored 15 for Old Lyme (17-5). He and Logan also combined to make 10 of 12 free throws.

Old Lyme will play top-seeded Valley Regional of Deep River in Friday's final at New Haven's Floyd Little Athletic Center (7 p.m.) The Warriors beat No. 5 Hyde of New Haven in its semifinal, 80-49.

Valley edged the Wildcats, 55-51, on Jan. 7, the only meeting between the two this season.

Josh Green had 18 points for the Panthers (15-7).

Men's lacrosse

• Mitchell College opened its season with with a 15-6 loss at Curry College. Demetre Lyras and Groton's Jordan Cook each scored twice and David Klapp and Tyler Kradas had one goal each for Mitchell.

H.S. girls' basketball

• Alyssa Velles scored 18 points to lead No. 13 NFA to a 62-35 win over No. 20 Naugatuck in a Class LL first-round game. NFA (18-5) plays at No. 4 Glastonbury in the second round Friday at 7 p.m. Glastonbury beat No. 29 Fairfield Warde 45-40. Olivia Marks had 11 points and Simone Cooper and Olivia Lane scored 10 each for NFA. Angelina Piccirillo led Naugatuck (10-11) with 11 points.

• Jamie Hill had 19 points and Cassidy Bundy added 12 points as No. 7 Montville beat No. 26 Plainville, 42-35, in a Class M first-round game. Meghan Autencio had nine points for Montville (17-6), which will play host to No. 10 Trinity Catholic of Stamford Friday at 7 p.m. Kelsey Clemens had 12 points for the Blue Devils and Deja Nolan scored nine.

• Kirstyn Arcata (22) and Emily Anderson combined for 42 points to lead No. 16 Rocky Hill to a 60-49 win over No. 17 Stonington in a Class M first-round game. Amanda Roy scored 20 points and Falecia Cabral had 14 points, 12 rebounds and three assists for Stonington (14-9).

H.S. boys' swimming

• East Lyme edged Wethersfield to win the East Lyme Invitational, 497-492. Avon was third with 271 points. The Vikings' Adam Opsahl, Clayton Otter, Eric Stirtan and Sam Magna set a pool record in the 200-yard freestyle relay, winning with a time of 1:31.78.

Individual winners for East Lyme were Dylan Luce, who won the diving with 185.10 points and Opsahl, who won the 200 individual medley at 2:02.46. The Vikings' team of Zach Kosakowski, Opsahl, Austin Toback and Magna won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.54.

Women's swimming

• East Lyme's Dana Tricarico recently helped lead Siena College to a seventh-place finish at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Tricarico, a junior team captain, scored points in four events including the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays in addition to making finals in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events. In addition, she was also named to the MAAC conference All-Academic team for the second straight season.

• Junior Julia Pielock was one of four swimmers from Connecticut College to be named to the all-New England Small College Athletic Conference women's team. Pielock won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events at the NESCAC championships. Sam Pierce, Emma Rotner, Sarah Lauridsen and Pielock were name all-NESCAC in the 800 freestyle relay.

Men's basketball

• The Coast Guard won the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference sportsmanship award.
