It's always interesting and curious when a band or artist is just huge in one country or region - but doesn't particularly resonate everywhere else.
And while The Saw Doctors have enjoyed a certain amount of global recognition and success, they're stunningly popular in their native Ireland. Part of the recipe is that the rock band utilizes a great deal of indigenous instrumentation and ancestral song structures. But, as with their quasi-mentors The Waterboys, they're also innately great at crafting driving and hooky rock.
If you're a fan, you get it. If you've never seen them, take a trip Friday to the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den, where The Saw Doctors are performing behind their latest CD, a compilation called "25:25." Absorb the greatness.
