Lunch with author Richard Horan

It's the writerly version of method acting. Author Richard Horan spent quality time working harvests and getting to know organic family farmers across the country - from California walnuts to Cape Cod cranberries.

The result is his latest book, "Harvest" (Harper Perennial), an intimate and compassionate study of an American lifestyle and workforce in financial peril. At a luncheon today in Mystic's Bank Square Books, Horan will read from and discuss "Harvest" - and of course eat lunch with you.

Horan's other works include "Seeds: One Man's Serendipitous Journey to Find the Trees That Inspired Famous American Writers from Faulkner to Kerouac, Welty to Wharton" and the novel "Goose Music."
