Norwich — A elderly city woman was killed this afternoon when she was struck by her car in the driveway of her home at 6 Meadow Lane. Sylvia Welling, 80, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At 2:50 p.m., police said they and firefighters from the East Great Plains Volunteer Fire Department, responded to 6 Meadow Lane after receiving a report of a woman struck by a car in the driveway. Emergency personnel found Welling, who had been discovered by a neighbor, near her 2010 Acura.
Police said their initial investigation indicates that Welling was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the incident, which they said appears to be an accident.
